About Butterfly

Hikosuke Tamasu founded Tamasu Co., Ltd. in the small town of Yanai City, Japan, in 1950. This was the beginning of a company career, which is almost unique in table tennis. A renowned international for Japan, Tamasu fulfilled his dream of a lifetime when he made his hobby his profession. At that time, he could hardly imagine that he would make Butterfly the leading brand worldwide. Creativity, durability, and a profound technical knowledge meant success. 0ver and over again he looked for new possibilities in order to optimize techniques by innovative playing material. Tamasu realized that each player is different and has strengths and weaknesses. By offering individual playing material, Tamasu wanted to help players right from the beginning to emphasize their individuality. Since 1983, Butterfly has its own training and research center in Tokyo. Highly qualified scientists co-operate with world-class players and coaches for the development of rubber and blade technology. Butterfly's rubbers and blades are used by more than half of the participants at World and European Championships.

Derek May works well

I enjoy using this racket. I'm basically a defensive player and this racket doesn't do anything crazy when I return slams. I'm still able get a reasonable amount of spin on the ball but I clean my racket before I start play. This is a great all around racket for the intermediate (1400) player on a budget.
Exactly what i wanted

I was looking for something to replace my old timo boll mid range racket. I originally tried a range of butterfly rackets from cheap to top end ones. Hated them all. It was either too much spin or too little. Or not enough power / control. I was going to give up and see if i could hunt down my original bat but thought i would give this one a go.

It beat my expectations right from the get go, i felt comfortable during long fast rallies. There was enough spin to produce crafty shots and plenty of power to score easy winners. I found my defensive play was superb and allowed me to switch around and turn the tables taking an offensive stance, even fighting from tight spots and under heavy fire. The control really helped me dictate the pace of the rallies too.

The bat seems to be pretty solid and fits nice in the hand. Its not very heavy and very versatile.

I recommend this bat for anyone who plays with finesse and measured power when it counts. If controlling the ball and defending your corner is key to your game i think this is a winner.

However amazon have got the specs wrong. According to the main site and the bat packaging it is actually. Speed=50, spin=45, control=100. For $30 its nice and easy on the wallet.
Good for defensive play.

Speed: This paddle is a bit on the slow side.
Control: The control is excellent.
Spin: Spin is medium.

I think this is a good beginners paddle for those who don't rely too much on spin.
love this paddle

This is a really nice paddle for beginners. my friend bought the exact same thing because he liked my paddle too. this paddle is not so sticky though... and it is not too soft or too hard. good for control indeed. the only problem is that it wont give a good spin. it has a really nice color combination, light and easy to handle. i would recommend beginners to start with this paddle. advanced players might want to get something depending on what they need.
